Ethos by Zulu & Zephyr

Here at Zulu & Zephyr we are committed to having a positive impact on the environment and global community, not only within our supply chain but all facets of our brand. We take pride in knowing that our product also serves as a purpose for the greater good.

Giving back

We are also dedicated to supporting charitable causes close to our hearts. Some of the charitable causes we have contributed to include Jeans for Genes Day, Make A Wish Foundation, Alannah and Madeleine Foundation, Seed Mob and Thread Together as well as humanitarian donations to Syria, and most recently we donated a portion of sales to the NSWRFS bushfire relief.

Ethics & Sustainability

Zulu & Zephyr are committed to limiting our social and environmental impacts not only through our sourcing and supply chain but on a more direct, daily basis in our headquarters and warehouse. Choosing lower impact materials and processes are key. All of Zulu & Zephyr marketing material is printed on carbon neutral ECOstar paper stock that is 100% recycled post-consumer. Our own in-house recycling practices ensure less waste is transferred into landfill.

Zulu & Zephyr value your interest in our manufacturing practices, we know how important it is that your clothes are made ethically because it’s important to us too. Over the years we have developed and supported our suppliers in Indonesia, China & India through the positive growth of our manufacturing.

We engage with our suppliers to develop, maintain & improve socially responsible sourcing and manufacturing practices. Through internationally recognised certifications & auditing framework we can ensure all our suppliers are in line with the values of our brand.

Accreditations include the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and OEKO-TEX certificates that certify we are eliminating &/or reducing the toxic chemicals used in the production of our trims and fabrics. As well as the ethical & environmental auditing framework, Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI). The code of conduct that monitors & supports 11 key principles ranging from fair remuneration to ethical business behaviour.

In 2019 members of our team visited manufacturing partners in China. We invite you on this journey...

Zulu & Zephyr is made for the sun, the salt & the sea. The impact plastic pollution has on our oceans is an issue close to our hearts and the reason why eliminating plastic from our supply chain has been forefront of our sustainability policy.

Switching from plastic poly bags to a biodegradable, plant-based alternative has been a big step in eliminating plastic from our sampling & production process. To reduce our need for new materials, we have transitioned our internal polyester garment labels to 100% recycled. Our swing tags are FSC approved with recycled string & recyclable pin.

Zulu & Zephyr goods travel from our makers to you in our bio garment bags. Online orders are then wrapped in biodegradable packaging - so all packaging materials can be discarded with no long term impact.

Black Lives Matter

It has been a time of reflection as a brand, recognising that we have not done enough to offer diversity and inclusivity within our company.  Where we have previously taken small steps, we want to make giant leaps. We are committed to change beyond a conversation, a social media post, a model casting. We want to start the change from the inside out. Below is how we are supporting the movement today and moving forward.

- In house work placements  for BIPOC students and women

- Broadening Affiliates program to THE BIPOC community

- Donating 1% For the Planet profits to, Australia’s first indigenous youth climate network - one of our chosen charities.

We will never understand the unjust treatment the BIPOC community has suffered and continues to suffer - although we do want to being better humans, mothers, friends and supporters in this incredibly important, historic time.

Black Lives Matter. Indigenous Lives Matter.
