REPREVE®

REPREVE® is one of the world’s highest quality recycled performance yarns. Unifi collect their own plastic bottles and feed them into their vertically integrated process to create REPREVE recycled polyester. As a brand we have chosen to use REPREVE® as it is fully certifiable and traceable through Global Recycle Standard (GSR) certification and Standard 100 certification. GRS ensures the highest level of integrity, tracing recycled content, while standard 100 by Oeko-tex certification ensures health and safety for people and the planet.

Our current swimwear collection comprises of two different types of REPREVE® yarn; REPREVE® Polyester and REPREVE® Nylon.

REPREVE® Polyester yarn is comprised of post-consumer plastic bottles diverting plastic bottles from landfill and our oceans.

REPREVE® Nylon yarn is created from pre-consumer waste, which is created during the manufacturing process, like fabric scraps or yarn waste from weaving mills and spinning factories.

Swimwear made from REPREVE® helps to reduce the use of raw materials while diverting plastic bottles and pollution from landfill. The utilisation of these yarns across our swimwear also offsets the use of petroleum, emitting fewer greenhouse gases and conserving water and energy in the process.

OUR IMPACT

REPREVE® POLYESTER IMPACT

38% of our current swimwear is made from REPREVE® Polyester diverting 27,363 post-consumer plastic bottles from landfill and our precious oceans around the world. Through this process we have saved enough water to provide 3 people their typical daily drinking water for a year which equals 2,329L of water. We have saved 7,128 kHw of energy which could power two homes within Australia annually. We have reduced our demand for fossil fuels by saving 761L of crude oil.

REPREVE® NYLON IMPACT

62% of our current mainline swim offering uses REPREVE® Nylon diverting 725.75kg of pre-consumer waste from landfill. Through this process we have saved 40,304 kHw of energy which could power 11 homes within Australia annually. We have reduced our demand for fossil fuels by saving 4,056L of crude oil.
