The Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) is a voluntary certification focused on promoting the welfare of sheep and sustainable land management. It guarantees that wool is sourced from farms that take a progressive approach to land stewardship and uphold a holistic respect for the well-being of sheep, adhering to the "Five Freedoms" of animal welfare.

The "Five Freedoms" are as follows:

  3. Freedom from Pain, Injury, or Disease
Through preventative care or swift diagnosis and treatment when necessary.

  4. Freedom to Express Normal Behaviour
By offering ample space, appropriate facilities, and the company of other animals of their kind.

  5. Freedom from Fear and Distress
By ensuring conditions and treatment that prevent mental suffering.
