WOMEN WE LOVE | EMILY YATES
If you've ever seen a dreamy image of the Mediterranean or wind swept curtains at dusk, this was probably taken by @emelinaah. Not only does Emily's Instagram feed make you want to travel and live the simple life, but we also love her quick witted captions - she is raw and honest, an open book. Emily's charm and approach to life is something we admire - she has a way of making you feel empowered and comfortable in your own skin, and for that, she is a Girl We Love.
What time does your day start and any morning rituals?
My day starts whenever my son Fox wakes up - which can be anywhere between 5:00am - 6:30am. I was never an early morning riser, but I now cherish watching the sunrise over the sleepy, still rolling hills where we live. And I always, always start my day with a reishi, mct oil, lions mane coffee.
What does your average day look like?
If we're not away travelling, my days usually start with a coffee and a morning swim in the ocean. I then spend time with friends, play with Fox and always manage to squeeze some form of creativity into my day. Whether it's photography, cooking, ceramic making or drawing. I usually finish my days with a light workout, and a glass of wine with my husband.
Emily wears the Foliage Onepiece.
When you're trying to get in the zone, what kind of music do you listen to?
I am such a music hussy. I listen to anything and everything. My playlists are a hot mess. It will go from Travis Scott, to Dixie Chicks, to Rage Against The Machine.
We love your approach to capturing the female form - what do you believe makes a women beautiful?
Everything. Every single thing makes a women beautiful. Her laugh, her soul, her smile, her passions, her flaws. Her edges and curves or lack thereof. There is nothing I don't find inspiring and beautiful in a woman.
Tell us about your side project @myvisualcurrency?
I've always loved photography, it's always been a passion of mine. And I love the female form. I've been taking images of my beautiful girlfriends for years, and one day I realised I had this giant collection of incredible images that I just didn't have a space for. They didn't fit with my instagram, but I thought they deserved to see the light of day. Thus my visual currency was born.

Emily wears the Shadow Wide Leg Jean, Mood Tee & Bathe Bralette Bikini (coming soon).
Who are your favourite photographers?
You know I don't really follow any photographers really. I tend to gravitate to vintage images and candid moments. But I will always be in awe of, and have so much respect for my wonderful friend Brydie (@wolfcubwolfcub). She's such a strong women with impeccable style and an eye for detail which I think is unparalleled. And Henrik Purienne. Always. I mean who doesn't love what he creates? An icon.
Who and what inspires you?
The women in my life inspire me every day. To watch them go through life, handling everything thrown at them with strength and grace inspires me to continue trying to capture them in all their glory.
You've travelled to some amazing destinations for work - where are some of your favourite places?
I think the islands of Africa will forever hold a piece of my heart. Lamu and Zanzibar. The people, the architecture, the juxtaposition of cultures and the scars left behind tell incredible tales. And Tasmania. So close to come but so still and restful. It's my safe place, my place away from it all. To stop, and slow down and take a big breathe of fresh cold air.
After you've clocked off for the day, what's next?
A wine, a bath and a good book.
