The fabrics we choose are just as considered as the silhouettes we cut. That's why a growing number of our pieces are made with recycled fibres — keeping waste out of landfill and oceans, and giving materials a second life as something you'll actually want to live in.

What's in our swim

A high percentage of our swim fabric is crafted from 66% GRS-certified recycled nylon, 11% recycled polyester, and 23% LYCRA® ECOMADE. The recycled nylon and polyester are spun from post-consumer and pre-consumer waste — think discarded fishing nets, fabric scraps and plastic bottles — diverted, broken down, and re-engineered into a smooth, high-performance yarn. LYCRA® ECOMADE adds the stretch and recovery our suits are known for, made with pre-consumer recycled content for a lower environmental footprint than its conventional counterpart.

The result? A fabric that feels every bit as soft, sculpting and durable as a virgin yarn — without the same demand on new resources.

Beyond swim

We've extended the same thinking to our knitwear and denim, where recycled fibres are woven into the yarns and threads we use season after season. From cosy ribbed pieces to your favourite Z&Z denim, the textiles that make up our wardrobe staples are quietly working harder for the planet.

What GRS-certified means

The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is an independent, end-to-end certification that verifies the recycled content of a product, plus the social, environmental and chemical practices used to produce it. When you see GRS on a Zulu & Zephyr label, it means the recycled claim has been traced and audited — not just promised.

Look for the eco key

Spot the recycled fibres eco key on product pages to shop the styles made with these materials. It's one of the small ways we're building a more responsible Z&Z — piece by piece, fibre by fibre.
