Tell us, where did the inspiration start for July & August of Jet Set?
The collection was inspired by an unrefined 70’s Ibiza. We essentially wanted to create a playful, vintage inspired collection that was still wearable, elevated & timeless. Using fashion as a form of escapism, Jet Set evokes the joyful wanderlust of island hopping in decades gone by. Designed to be worn with a carefree, sunny disposition.
We toned down bright colours by using textured fabrications and have playful pieces sitting alongside neutral shades and minimal styles — striking the perfect balance between natural & vibrant.
Talk us through designing July & August with seasonality in mind.
July opens with a refined palette of white, cream and olive. As the collection progresses into a more vibrant palette, these neutral tones in classic silhouettes are a fail-safe way to breath new life into your wardrobe.
Ribbed fleece, fluid knitwear and textured cotton ensembles have become cult ZZ pieces. Also revived are ZZ favourites, the Exploration Utility Short & Pant — the perfect lightweight denim pieces to carry you through the season and beyond.
Vintage upholstery inspired stripes are introduced in August, toned down in lightweight linen. Sitting back with natural husk, the Catalan story is the epitome of retro-cool. In pieces that look effortlessly stand-out while being comfortable enough for days on the go. The Catalan cotton spandex swimwear brings an undoubtably vintage feel to the collection, in tried and tested ZZ styles.
Speaking to the minimalist, the Barefoot swim story mixes flat rib and thick lycra for a clean no-fuss appeal. The boyfriend shirt is one of the most classic pieces in any wardrobe and the Seaside Shirt adds an injection of understated cool, matched back with the full length Adventure Jean.
Lastly, what is your favourite look from Jet Set and why?
One of the great things about this collection is it provides endless opportunities to play with your personal style.
I’m usually drawn to pieces that look effortlessly stand-out. Opting for beautifully crafted classics that are guaranteed a cherished place in my closet for years to come — such as the Vagabond Shirt & Short set crafted from a beautiful husk linen.
However I find something endlessly alluring about oceanic shades of teal and blue. I’m looking forward to wearing the Villa cheeky Boy Short bikini (coming September) in the surf and layering with crochet, a playful look that feels nostalgic to me.
